EPM Add-In: Not Getting Loaded / Installed Correctly


You cannot see the EPM Add-In in the Excel ribbon and within the Excel COM Add-ins, the Load Behavior message is:

Location: mscoree.dll
Load Behavior: Not Loaded. A runtime error occurred during the loading of the COM Add-in.



*Before following the steps below, make sure you install the correct EPM Add-in according to your office version (Be noted that your office could be 32 bit as well if your OS is 64 bit).

For Office 32 bit, install EPM_Add-in_NET45_x32.exeFor Office 64 bit, install EPM_Add-in_NET45_x64.exe

1. Uninstall the EPM Add-In

2. Repair your Office program by performing the following steps
    (Note: this set of steps is for Windows 7 and Office 2010. Other operating systems and Office versions may have slightly different steps).

   i) Click Start, then click Control Panel
   ii) Click Programs and Features
   iii) Click the Office 2010 program that you want to repair, then click Change
   iv) Click Repair, then click Continue
   v) Restart your computer after the repair is complete

3.  After this is complete, please confirm their are no registry entries or files related to the EPM Add-In. If there are, please remove/delete them.

4. If you are using Office 365 (ClickToRun) 64-bit, please create the following registry entry on your machine:


5. Re-install the EPM Add-In


If the EPM Add-In does not get loaded at the startup of Excel, please ensure that the following registry keys contain the entry below. And in the meanwhile, uncheck option "Require Application Add-ins to be signed by Trusted Publisher" under Excel Options->Trusted Center->Trusted Center Settings->Add-ins.

LoadBehavior = 3

Value 3 means load at startup:


i. If EPM Add-In is installed under

C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\EPM Add-In

for a 64-bit operating system (OS) the registry entry will be at:


for a 32-bit OS the registry entry will be at:


ii. If EPM Add-In installed under

C:\Users\<name of user>\AppData\Local\Programs\SAP BusinessObjects\EPM Add-In

the registry entry will be at:


iii. If Office 365 (ClickToRun) 32 bit is used, check and then add the following registry key if it does not exist:
