Error while communicating with server in EPM Add-in

Symptom

Error when trying to log on to EPM Add-in client.
Error: "Error while communicating with the server
Framework message:
The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required
"The following messages can be found in EPM Add-in log (menu 'More / Log'):
"ERROR BPCProxy FPMXLClient.BPCProxy.Common.Wcf.InterceptorChannelFactory`1+InterceptorRequestChannel.Request The remote server returned an unexpected response: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.
ERROR BPCProxy FPMXLClient.BPCProxy.Session.SessionServiceHelper.Logoff The remote server returned an unexpected response: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.
ERROR BPC10Connection FPMXLClient.Connection.RESTConnection.Connect The remote server returned an unexpected response: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.
ERROR Connection FPMXLClient.Connection.ConnectionManager.CreateConnection The remote server returned an unexpected response: (407) Proxy Authentication Required."

Reproducing the Issue

Open Microsoft Excel,In EPM tab, click on 'Log On' button,Select the Connection Name,Enter User Name and Password and click on 'Log On' button.

Cause

The Fiddler trace confirms that the HTTP frames, from the EPM Add-in, pass through a proxy that requires authentication.

Resolution

It is necessary to try the connection by disabling the automatic configuration settings in the LAN settings of Internet Explorer as follows:

Open Internet Explorer,
Select the menu 'Tools / Internet Options',
Select the 'Connections' tab,
Click on 'LAN settings' button,
Untick the 3 followings options: 'Automatically detect settings', 'Use automatic configuration script' and 'Use a proxy server for your LAN (These settings will not apply to dial-up or VPN connections)' and click 'OK'.
